Morning All,

Is the rear diff (24 spline) on a disco 2 td5 the same as a 300 disco 1??

And is the general consensus of getting the drive flange cap (which covers the flange nut) off, using heat?

Thanks in advance

No idea if its the same as a D1 sorry.

Regards getting the flange cap off, I would say so, but you'd probably need to renew the oil seal seeing as you're trying to set fire to it. (Is that why you want to remove the flange nut?)

A puller didn't work on mine until plenty of heat persuaded it

Yep pinion oil seals passing in a big way... I have a spare diff off a d1 so had a practice run yesterday.... All manner of pullers failed, heat is the best way by the look of it! :flame:

Thanks for the reply!

I have a rear diff (24spline) for a Landrover Discovery td5. Was going to change mine on my earlier vehicle but sold it before getting round to changing it. Anyway your welcome to have it free of charge, providing you pay for collection from SK14 area. Just let me know if your interested in it. Email me on [email protected]
Regards\Pete.

Just to close the thread, made my own puller with some 1" square tubing and flat bar, And used a lot of heat! Cheers
