Rear audio controls in my D2

My D2 doesn't have the rear audio controls for the dickie seat at the back but I wonder if they are easily retro fittable?
They are about £80 and I have some unused connector underneath the blanking plate where it would fit.

Has anyone done this? If so, is it a case of plug and play? And is it worth doing?

I had them on my first Disco2 but never used them. I don't have them on my current Disco2 and I still don't use them.

To be honest, one day I got some earplugs, had a fiddle with them, thought "aren't they great" then never touched them again.

I suppose if you regularly use the boot seats and they're filled with kids of a certain age they may be of some use, but I would guess even then they'll get used only on long journeys, not the school run.

You would have to have the right HK stereo fitted as well, so it'll play Justin Bieber for the ankle biters in the back while you listen to Radio 2.

And....you can't use them well on the back seats because you can't turn around to push the buttons easily, so only the boot seats really.

I'd spend the £80 on something more usable. Perhaps the cruise control switches if you don't have them. Just my views. Feel free to disagree.
 
Got them fitted in mine ( 5 seater) and never tried em , might have a go later , tbh a roof mounted DVD player would be more use for back seat passengers, that's if your sunroof doesn't leak.

I found this on the net from 2003, how quickly the prices rise


You will need the following parts:

1 x Cruise master switch (part no. YUH100370) £8.15 + VAT
1 x Set/Resume switch (part no. YUH100320) £25 + VAT
1 x Mounting Bracket (Part no. ZCCB) £21.69

You can save yourself even more money by making the mounting bracket, this is even easier if you have steering mounted radio controls fitted as you can copy the mounting bracket from there (hey are the same).
 
If you're going to get cruise control, be aware that Land Rover don't sell the bracket to fit the steering wheel switches, but will sell the switches. The kits on ebay include that and instructions, which includes a template showing where to cut the plastic to fit it, making it super easy.

They're still a bit top heavy on price though.
