Ian,

Are you totally sure its the turbo? I thought I had the same but it was
actually a sheared stud on the exhaust manifold. Only makes a squeal when
you put your foot down heavy or when you get over a certain speed. I
strongly suggest you check the studs before getting any work done on the
turbo. I had to have the work done twice as the dealership I went to the
first time only replaced the one faulty stud at the time and put all the
rest back in. Another one went about 12 months later and they weren't
interested in doing it as a warrantied repair. So ended up with the local
bloke who is fantastic as has had all my work and servicing since.
Also noise comes from so close in the engine bay to the turbo and under such
similar conditions its easy to mistake for turbo noise.
From what I have since heard via my mechanic most of the head work that he
gets on TD5's is now manifold studs so it may be becoming a 'known issue'.

HTH,

Mark
