Hello!

I've got a silver td5 facelift and I was looking to get it wrapped in gloss white as I have a charity drive I am doing to the Western Sahara and wanted a white base for corporate sponsorship and logo's.

I've looked into pricing for a full wrap and quotes are £1300 to £1800 which seems a bit pricey in comparison to some comments I've seen from a few years back which state a respect can cost between £900-1300.

How come a wrap is so much? Anyone got there's wrapped before and what is he quality? I'm concerned that for only a few hundred more I can get an actual respray

Could you not just buy some white vinyl, scalpel blades and a long ruler, and get on with it yourself? It's a fairly square vehicle so shouldn't be too challenging, you could just apply large pieces on flat surfaces and leave any areas that are too tricky.

Cheers guys. That plasti dip looks great however probably won't do for me on this occasion. I might try it myself but I've been told it;s hard to do but i'm tempted to give it a go. Has anyone done it before?

It's not that difficult, applying vinyl. I've never personally wrapped a car but I've applied lots of kits on bike fairings, just get the panel wet, then start at one edge and apply it using a filler spreader or even a grout float to flatten it without trapping air. Any bubbles you do get can be popped with your scalpel blade and sill be barely noticeable. YouTube is your friend here.

I'm half tempted to give it a try using some cheap stuff to start with then if all goes well some 3M. Will find let you know how I get on

Could you not buy the material and not get some wrapping place to do it for free seeing as its for charity? Maybe for some advertising on the vehicle or a shot in the local paper?

How have you got on with it?
It's postponed while I see if I can get a good price. Just had to pay £400 for new locks and now my steering box needs to be reconditioned which is another £500. Since April it's cost me 9k. Might as well have just given 5k to charity lol
