Ok, I'll try to be as descriptive as possible. Problem 1, when I start my Discovery 1 (200 TDI, K Reg) it starts fine without any problems, however, when I'm out of gear and rev the engine I hear a high pitch sound that gets louder when I rev..... the same happens when I drive off and accelerate, it's so annoying! I've checked all the hoses, air filter, alternator, steering box and it's still there! It hasn't lost any performance though...... might just have to wear ear muffs

Right, problem 2, when I'm in 4th gear doing approximately 20 to 30 miles an hour there is a very low (but loud) droning noise when I accelerate, I've checked the seals on both differentials and transfer box and replaced all the oils (no leaks) with some pretty good gear oil.

Frustrating these discovery's, but I guess that's why I will having nothing else.....

Is the noise a whistle turbo kinda noise? check your exhaust for holes, i have mine straight through to the back box and i can hear my turbo whistle. 20mph in 4th are you mad? try 20mph in 3rd see if that makes any improvements :)

what ^ he said... 20mph in 4th is gonna make the engine labour un-necessarily. Try it in any car and it will be the same.

That whine could be turbo hiss or one of your belts rubbing with increased rpm, or fan with missing/dodgy blade

As daft as it sounds check your power steering fluid level. I was getting the same sort of squeel then checked my fluid levels, problem solved!
