Can anyone help me here, i've a rattling noise under the bonnet i think i eventually tracked it down to the radiator expansion tank, which sits just above the wheel arch problem is i cant seem to secure it has anyone else experienced this.it only rattles on a bumpy surface on the flat its fine

undo the mounting screws and pack them out a bit with some rubber washers and then do the screws back up, should cure it unless it's rattling against the bodywork, then stick some rubber to the body work where it touches using evo stick or similar

The problem with the expansion tank it the screws thread the plastic easily if i remember correctly. You could go halfrauds and by some body plugs (dunno what else they're called but they're white with a slit down the middle, they expand like a wall plug when screwed into and grip onto the metal bodywork) and screw into them for a firmer hold maybe?

aye you could use a larger diameter screw but i'd still change the plug if i were you. The stock ones are absolutely ****, it's a wonder they got them to grip for installation in the first place!

Found the packet that i used when i did mine, it's a blue packet and they're called trim panel nuts, from halfords. I had to drill the hole slightly larger for them to fit in, don't drill the hole too large though, it's good if u have to give the plug a whack with a rubber mallet to get it all the way in, it grips better that way then. Ideally use a drill bit just the same width as the bottom of the plug so the plug will go so far in before having to whack it.

These plugs work wonders in the bodywork too, if you've got a plug missing holding on a peice of plastic trim etc, these will fit perfectly.
