rangerover v8 on lpg doing 9mpg help please

hi to all. I have had a range rover vouge v8 3.5 f reg running on lpg for 5 weeks and i have worked out that it is only doing 9 mpg can any one in or near wolverhampton please help as i love the rangy but if i cant get anything sorted it will have to go.

That's all my V8 depender does on gas, so I've put a higher geared T/Box in. I'll let you know the results when I get it on the road.
It did about 100 miles to a tank which holds I think 50ltrs

i have a v8 discovery auto and I get at least 150 miles off 50 liters even when I'm driving it hard.. and it's only single point... so I would agree there's a problem but sorry can't help with what the problem is... presumably you've checked the obvious - ie what's the fuel consumption like on petrol... are your brakes seized, have you done oil and filter, air filter (mine's minging - must get round to sorting that) is it running smoothly or does it need a tune etc etc

My old carb Rangie used to go down to 11mpg around town & was regularly serviced & running well, so 9mpg on gas while maybe a little low isn't totally surprising. The best mine ever gave was 18mpg on a run. The savings come from the cheap cost of the gas. Sounds like yours could be improved a little but I wouldn't expect huge gains. Good luck.

it wont run on petrol at all and i cant get hold of a haynes manual to find out why

I would deal with that first then deal with mpg later....

as a good friend of mine says regularly when it comes to motors:

broom broom THEN bling bling....

in other words if your basics aren't right don't start messing with the niceties.. your engine obviously needs attention and giving it some now will save you loads of grief in the future I guarantee...
