Range Rovers Going Wrong %

Has you may no (iam a pain)i am looking to buy a 4.6 and having read most of the stuff on here, can i ask you..the owners of such beasts.. just how often they go wrong.what i mean is,what chance % wise,is there of me getting a good one that will be reliable. I know its not much but iam looking to spend 9-10k..and undrstand that there are no guarnatees in life.But it will my only car and run daily so i would need to know if they can be relied on to STOP-GO-STOP.if you know what i mean????
 
First off, the thing about forums, not just this one, is 99% of the time people only come here when they have a problem, never when things are going right, did you ever see a post saying "My Landy is great i haven't had any trouble with it at all" it just don't happen, so what you see here inst a true representation of how any car, let alone a Land Rover really performs, I would say (if you chose your Landy carefully when you buy it) like any other car you buy, it will last as long as any vehicle out there and perform as good as the rest of them, but buy a bad one, (like any other make) and you'll have trouble.
 
hiya mate :) all bloody rangerovers go tits up on you , the question is ...........when.
this of course can be kept to an absolute minimum by prventative maitainance and getting to know your vehicle and it needs.
what a lot of people expect when they buy one is that they think they are buying a run of the mill car , wrong !!!!! these are mostly very complex motors and as such need to be maintained as such , if not they will certainly bite you on the arse :D :D , and do major damage to your bank balance :D , i hope i aint put you off mate .

no i will not be put off.just wonderd how reliable they are because i will not have a run around to fall back on.i all ways have my cars serviced on time and any ness. work done asap.

My 2001 RR 4.6 Vogue has now covered 99k miles and has been 100% totally reliable and trouble free so far! I have owned it from being 5 months old and it has been a wonderful car. I appreciate that I may be the exception, the car has been meticulously maintained by a franchised dealer at a cost of 18k so far, so has not been inexpensive to keep trouble free!
It has only recently just blotted its copy book, with a rough idling problem..... but so far, keeps toddling on!
 
I bought a 2002 p38 at "the right price". Everything you could think of was wrong with it. Most of the stuff was a matter of a few quid for bits and bobs to a small number of hundreds for the not so bits and bobs. The thing to look out for is the dreaded gunjo put in to camouflage cylindar liners on the move. God knows how you identify it-I couldn't. The gurus here might be able to tip you off. There's only one remedy after you've done your brains in eliminating every other possible sympton-renewal. There's an amazing amount of work that can be carried out yourself. The real laugh comes when you're forced to go to specialist, or worse, a land rover agent. As intimated here and in other wise posts, don't trust your own judgement with a range rover. Get a truly expert person to help you. The way I'm going on that could be me !:)

Once you get one flying (go p99y if you can) confidently, there's nothing to touch them. Especially if you tow.
 
My 2000 4.6 vogue has now done 104k and I have had it a year, other than having to get the blend motors changed (bought with the fault) it has done me proud. I have another issues which has cropped up which could be ball joint related but as others have mentioned, if your worried about having to expense a RR for faults, then a RR is not the car of choice.

If it goes wrong, it's gonna be expensive..
