Hi everyone.

Excuse my ignorance on land/range rovers. I recently had a 2009 RRS 3.0 TDV6 and regret selling it. So I’m looking to buy another but I’m confused with the 2013 models both old and new shape and hoping you guys can help.

Whilst searching for a 2013 old shape model I’m getting two different economy figures. The last of the square shaped sports quote fuel consumptions from 34 to 42 for some models and 28 to 35 for others ?? Even though they have the same Bhp.

At first I thought it was the difference between TDV6 and SDV6 engines but have seen the same consumption for both.

What’s the difference and what decides the consumption figures??

The second question is why do the last of the old shape and the new shape have the same emissions of 194 but have different tax rates??

Sorry again for the ignorance on the differences between the models but hopefully someone can help out a new Landy admirer.

Thanks.

Do you have examples of where the different economy figures are posted? Had a quick search and couldn’t find any differences on some of the websites I looked at (Parker’s etc)

If C02 is the same then the tax should be the same - again where have you seen the different info posted?

Hi td4van

Thanks for the reply.

The details on most car sales sites which list car specs but the ones I’ve seen are on autotrader.

I’ll try and take some screen shots and send them to you. The search I have set is for 2013 HSE sports under 50k which covers the last of the old shape and the first of the new shape.

I’m looking for and prefer the old shape which I’m led to believe is the old body with the new spec engine.

I suspect the tax difference is due to the EU rating of the engine.

I’ll try and screen shot some specs.

I think the data is wrong on Autotrader and how it pulls the data through - don’t know if this is an automated process or seller chooses.....

Specs here:

https://www.parkers.co.uk/land-rover/range-rover-sport/estate-2005/specs/

And for the later, aluminium bodied lighter version:

https://www.parkers.co.uk/land-rover/range-rover-sport/4x4-2013/specs/

No old shape Range Rover Sport has CO2 below 220 grams - bit more info on 2012MY changes here:

Hi Td4van

Thanks for the informative and precise reply.

I’m not surprised that the information on autotrader is incorrect. Not sure how it works but like most systems it’s based on the vehicle reg. It auto selects the data so not sure what would make it switch between the two forms of data because the 3.0 LR engine is the same across the range and it’s the gearbox that changes as detailed in the 2012MY link you kindly sent.

I’m very grateful for your info because I could have been mislead by the autotrader data.

I prefer the 2012 model compared the 2013MY but looks like I’m going to have to save up a little longer to get the new shape and it’s lower running costs.

Thanks again for your help
