I am having the exhaust crossover pipe changed on my RR Sport 2.7 TDV 6.
When undoing the 3 bolts on the drivers side my mechanic said the flexi looking pipe just above the crossover pipe connection is failing and needs to be replaced.

Can anybody point tin my the right direction on what part this is?

Thanks

Hand up, Me knows as it’s the same engine as mine , lol

Indeed , is the egr to the exhaust Manifold, think there around £200

As a side note after you’ve had that pipe replaced it wouldn’t hurt to blank ur egrs, done that with mine, but can be done later after you’ve recovered from the bill, ouch , but at least that crossover pipe can be done without removing the body

seen that many reasons why the crossover pipe fails is when the securing brackets are left off

Hope it helps

ps, if I may add , plse ensure the oil pump has been replaced with the stronger updated one

Well done that man. Do you know from what year the modified front cover/oil pump was fitted?

bless u as that’s very kind of u to say

To be honest I’m not 100% but I think it was 2009/2010 that’s between the end of the D3 to the start of the D4

know that from years 2007/8 they had the older style oil pump and more reports of them breaking

However it’s best to check/ replace the oil pump from 2004 onwards with the upgraded one , first thing I done when I bought mine along with front and rear belts

plus if it’s of interest here’s a video of an EGR and water pump being fitted , same on the RRS and D3 TDV6 2.7

EGRs when blanked after 2007 req a software patch , of course can’t be blanked if a DPF is fitted

hope that helps and of some interest

ur so welcome , haven’t seen any reports with issues of the oil pump covers in such a late D4, however for peace of mind would always have warranty cover with a D4, seeing there so complicated and can be looking at 10k if the engine ever let go

did make me laugh ref ur BIL, lol , must admit would like a D4 , but for me would have to be the 5 litre petrol V8

Plus @lynall is also extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the very technical bits and must admit very patient with me when I’ve asked daft questions

apologises , for some reason my brain was in auto and assumed it was a D4 , ;):)

Must admit really not keen on the sport , if I ever bought a Range Rover it would have to be a FFRR

2012 I believe will have the 3.0 SDV6 , still a L320 as pre dates the L494 which I think started in 2013 , so seeing there can be engine issues would also get a warranty for peace of mind

Thanks for the replies - will see if I can get the pipe ready for fitment.

It is gearbox out for the crossover pipe swap, it's blowing at both flexi joints:(

I had the torque converter changed for an reconditioned uprated one last year but they swear blind that the securing brackets were put back when they did it. Hmmm .... not so sure?

As expected some of the nuts and studs didn't come undone and I think had to be drilled/ground out in the end.
