Hi folks new to the forum and need some advice, I have a 2004 l322 diesel and recently i had a burst brake pipe. Once this was repaired I had a hard time to bleed through....then the problems started, all four brakes locked up ...I contacted local garage who bleed the system again ..only lasted a couple of miles and it locked up again..the system has been flushed about 5 times now in case of contamination..up to now I have changed master cylinder and ABS module. Today i changed the brake servo only to find brakes are hard as if no servo asistance ..(vacuum press is good at pump ).

Before all this brake pipe happend the jeep was running great.:(:([/QUOTE]
 
On replacementof the modulator was it then setup and tested using the Land Rover Diagnostic system akin to the Test Book/T4??

You could also look at the precharge pump or the pressure modulator.....a full diagnostics on a Land Rover specific test machine is advisable.

The L322 does have a few systems that rely on the ABS system....such as the Emergency Brake Control and Corner Brake Control.....

Also, it isn't a Jeep, they are cheap American heaps of crap!! - First strike!
 
First I apologise for the insult for calling it a jeep .

It was in at a landrover dealer and no codes or anything showed up on there diagnostics. ...
 
I wouldn't put too much faith in a main dealer for a 2004 model, my main dealer wasn't even sure if they had a working version of T4 Testbook. The main dealer looked at me when I turned up with my 04 as if they had invited me to their first borns christening and I had turned up drunk and taken a **** in the font
HDC errors are another reason the brakes can be applied randomly.
When you say the brakes lock up, do they do it when you apply the brakes or just do it without applying the brakes?
 
Hi..I can drive maybe 400 meters then it just brakes itself without pressing the brake peddle...I know what you are saying because it's 2004
 
my HDC was cutting in and applying the brakes when i had what i think was a wheel speed sensor fault but that was showing up on diagnostics.
I had DSC, HDC and ABS inactive then it would drive fine and i removed the sensor and cleaned it and it has been ok. It happened after driving though a big puddle
 
I have an x5 as well as a l322. It's a known problem with burst pipes and just simple bleeding won't cur the mustard. You need a specialist who will open and shut valves inside the abs unit whilst bleeding. You may wNt to take to a bmw specialist who may be able to he

Hi,
Did you sort this problem out as we have the same issues and are at a loss as to what to do next?
 
Have you checked for a good vacuum at the servo connection?

The Diesel Td6 uses an engine operated vacuum pump to provide vacuum to the servo. sometimes either the vac pump fails or the vacuum pipe goes brittle or collapses...
 
Hi mate, did you find a solution for this? I am having the exact same issue, the brakes lock up after a few hundred yards driving. The only way i can drive the car is if i unplug the ABS module, i get all the lights come up obviously but the brakes don't lock up. FYI, On diagnostics, none of the wheel speed sensors were giving a reading! - i was hoping it might point to one of them but not the case. Would appreciate any help, don't want to splash out on an ABS module and it doesnt cure the issue - thanks in advance.
