Hello everyone,
After cleaning my pistons, which were slightly charred, I was able to take a closer look at the liners. These are for some scratched (barely perceptible with fingernails) and also with black traces of which I do not know the origin. Can this affect the proper functioning of the engine, which still has correct compressions?
In addition the camshaft presents on 2 lobes, a degradation of material, it does not look like an oxidation but rather an acid attack. Same question, can this affect the correct medium-term operation of the engine? 🇪🇭
I specify that the camshaft was changed 13 years ago and that the range has been driven very little since. The segmentation was redone at the same time.

The cam looks like a manufacturing fault from the photo, I would replace it. I don't know about the cylinders, but if a compression test is OK, it should be fine.
 
The camshaft needs replacing.
Normal to replace camshaft and the followers at the same time, any damage or wear will rapidly affect new items if you don't.

If the compression is fine I wouldn't worry about the bore - although if you've got it in bits then no reason (and might give you peace of mind) why you couldn't remove the piston & check the rings etc are OK.
 
Here's my lifter associated with the worn camshaft lob , compared with a another one...
How long should i run with this ? I dont have taping noise before...

At this point, I'm having a hard time judging how long it would take me to replace the shaft, the tappets (with preload adjustment), and the fine points (the bull**** to avoid) at negotiate well to do a clean job. I don't want to ruin all the work I've done so far :(

Once a cam starts to wear, that's it, it's done. Only the surface is hardened, after that it will only take a few miles to wear down
 
To choose:
OEM camshaft + aftermarket tappets or vice versa? the ideal being all OEM but that I already know ;)
