Random coolant spew on floor but never seen

Since buying my car I have found random large amounts of coolant on the garage floor,but I never catch it leaking ,it just seems to take a **** randomly overnight. When you look theres droplets in loads of random places under and around the battery as far as centre of radiator. I can drive it,bring it home ,park up and watch it for ages but it never drips whilst I watch. Any ideas ? 2001 4.0l countryman

hi , turn the aircon off ,,,,,,also look at the drainage tubes either side of engine/gearbox area I think there is a nipple on each end the tubes might be blocked give em a squeeze , cheers mozz

p.s. without teaching you to suck eggs , BUT the only switch on the dash wich is lit up =red when its off is the aircon switch ... so if its not lit up then the aircon is on !!!!!! hope this helps cheers mozz

Have you tasted it? is it coolant? if not do as Mozz posted and see if it stops. If it does stop then nothing to worry about and you can switch your a/c back on.

Definitely coolant as its green and needs top ups..its just irregular last night I had another really good look but not so much as a drip after driving and leaving on tickover for ages.

As it's coolant I would get it static pressure tested asap before it damages your motor

Possibly the water pump on the way out - the coolant is probably from the water pump weep hole.

Check the pipes and clips around the thermostat. I had a bad join on one of the hoses on to the plastic thermostat housing and when the water cooled (i.e. parked up) a small gap/leak opened up and sprayed water small amounts of coolant in different places everytime. I changed the old type spring clip to a jubilee clip which sorted the problem.

Thanks for the advice so far...sods law but not a dripper since my post although the night previous to posting she left a massive puddle......what is the waterpump weephole all about?

There is a hole in the casting that lets any water out when it leaks past the seal due to the bearings being past their sell date.

+1 for both the thermostat hoses and water pump, if it's a Thor you might want to inspect the hoses that run down the LH side next to the alternator ours had a moment and the belt chewed into one of these and dropped coolant until all the pressure had gone, then stopped leaking until I got it home - which was very decent of it.

I left the car parked up after I posted a few days ago...last nite there were 2 pools ,one looks hard to get at ,at front of engine under aircon assembly..water pump ? The other god knows. I bunged a bottle of K seal in..shall wait n see if it helps. In the meantime its now suffering a flat battery when left a few days grrr

Which incidentally it hasn't...puddle was there again today.Plus battery was flat again.The last few journeys out have resulted in the suspension going into high mode and staying there ...seems more prevalent in the wet...

K-Seal will not fix a knackered water pump - it will ruin a perfectly good rad and heater matrix - pretty much writing your car off at dealer prices.

Is Kseal that bad then, I have never used it previously I just happened to have a bottle in the garage.The bottle is very small , a guy in the motor trade recomended it to me . As a plumber we have similar products available to seal small leaks which work fine.

Yes it is that bad! If you want to keep an old £200 banger on the road for another month - it does the job. But IMHO in the long term it will do more harm than good.
