Evening all,

My radiator leaks, i thought i'd found it and plugged it but no, it still bloody leaks. I can't see a leak when its running or when its not. Probably looses a pint a day. Tried abit of radweld and it lasted 6 days before it had lost all the water in the rad.

I think its time for a new rad or a recore?

Is there any pros to a recore over a new rad?

thanks

I've checked the pipes and they seem fine.

I had a look underneath for a couple of minutes while it was running and couldnt see anything dripping!

The problem has been going on for a couple of months now, i'd have thought the head gasket would have given up by now?

I'd get it good and warm, under pressure and thermostat open, and put cardboard or similar underneath to show up any drips. Do it on a dry day and take her for a run 1st.....it will take forever to get up to temp properly sat ticking over.

Losing water via headgasket will show as either water in oil (mayo under oil fill cap) or as white exhaust smoke that doesn't clear as she warms up.

I also run a VW Passatt as well as my series and the VW head gasket started leaking about six months ago. I was advised to try K seal (not its full name Ive forgotten what the K stands for) As simple as rad weld just pour in and run. It has not required water since.
