I have searched previous threads and unfortunately not found any info so hoping someone has some idea. For a couple of weeks my land rover discovery 2 td5 manual has been either jumping out of reverse or not engaging properly to start. As of yesterday I intermittently have a problem depressing the clutch, as if it is catching somewhere not like a loss of fluid problem. Both clutch cylinders appear to be fine visually. Has anyone got any idea on either of these or whether they could be connected or two different faults?

possibly if clutch isnt clearing enough gear selection will be harder ,rev more so than 1st as dog teeth on reverse gear wear ,more so than other gears , if worn enough it wont hold gear fully and so may well jump out

Has second gear been crunching or difficult to engage either from third or first? I had that symptom just before reverse played up and eventually the gearbox bearings needed replacing. You may also have the clutch fork distorted or pierced by fulcrum pivot. Whereabouts in the Aude are you?

Gearbox is all a bit sloppy. Bias plate was broken for some time by the looks of it before I had vehicle which has worn gear stick between bias springs. Have now contacted local who I am told is bit of a whiz. I am located about 20 km from limoux.
