Just picked up a 2000 Blazer and it has this extra button marked Auto
4x4.
I understand the Hi and Lo 4wd and the 2wd, but what's with this auto
button? Can anyone help?

That's where electronics may decide when to lock front and rear axle
together, with an (electro)hydraulic clutch pack.
Just don't confuse it with true/active fulltime 4wd, since in fact it is only
a reactive parttime 4wd (but without the problem of windup on dry roads that
a manual parttime 4wd would have).
