Putting dvd/gps in cubbyhold

Hi all,

First time poster and looking for a bit of help.

I'm looking to purchase a dvd/gps/rear camera touch screen and have it mounted in my 08 freelander 2 cubbyhold on dashboard.

This is the unit I was considering:

I was in touch to confirm if this could be mounted and they advised that I would need a facia plus cage. When I went to local halfords to source same, they advised that it couldn't be mounted in the cubbyhold and instead the existing radio/cd would need to be removed the the new unit put in its place.

I've seen lots of pics online with screens mounted in cubbyhold so was wondering if someone could clarify?

Does the existing radio /cd need to be removed or can both units co exisit?☺

Units are compleatly separate.

Thanks for that video. I'm confused as to why halfords said there would be a problem in fitting the new unit. (Perhaps the new 7 inch screen or double din unit won't fit in the cubbyhold position?)

A head unit won't fit in the cubby there is not enough room.

Rather than fit another screen, but we have changed the original head unit for an android one for the reverse camera.
