Hello!

I have seen a chassis on ebay Land Rover Defender PUMA 90 Galvanised Chassis on eBay (end time 29-May-10 19:59:41 BST)

which is the cheapest I have seen. I have a 1991 2.5 n/a petrol defender 90 and in future would be looking to put in a discovery 200tdi, would this chassis do the job with the right engine mounts etc? Would many alterations be required or would I just have to get the correct more expensive chassis?

Thank you for any help in advance!

Mark

I'd be very suspicious of a brand new chassis that cheap ?? ask lots of questions about where it's come from. Why it's so cheap??

Also the Ford transit engine & gearbox in the puma is unlikely to have the same mounting points as a 200tdi discovery engine. or an lt77 gearbox. Add to this, the fact that welding galvy is a bit risky unless you have a very well ventilated area to weld it in or full breathing gear. and then of course you'll have ground the galvy off which defeats the object of having a galvy chassis.

And the fact that the new landrover chassis's are made out of tissue paper and even though its galvanised would probably only last 2 weeks.

what about the galv chassis from somewhere like paddocks? Or does anyone know a good place to get a replacement chassis for a decent price?

Hi i am in the middle of doing a chassie swap and the gearbox mounting holes are the same its just the engine mounts which you have to change, I have used a Rangey:) gear box which has pushed the engine forwared this allows you to use the original down pipe thus saving you over £100 the only issue which i have now come across is the rear prop is to short and a range one is to long,
