Hi all!
To try to fix a turbo underboost fault on my 2007 2.4 Puma, (having already tried the hoses) I tried to order a recon turbo but was told by the seller they don't sell them any more and to buy a new Chinese one from Ebay instead, which they can't compete with.
(I've since been told it could also be the intake manifold or the intercooler, but one thing at a time!)

So I fitted the turbo today and it was obvious the old one was faulty. The actuator was jammed and almost solid with hardly any movement.

I haven't seen the underboost fault yet, plus the police siren noise has gone, but the following has started. I noticed this when the engine was hot, but it may have started before that.
When under load (even at low speeds):
* there is a wooshing of air sound like a hose is disconnected, but there are no obviously disconnected hoses
* sometimes the speedo jumps around
* sometimes the engine power drops and comes back, often rapidly in succession

I thought the air wooshing could maybe be a leaky intake manifold, but no idea what the other stuff could be.
Any suggestions?

Intercooler. Check the seams where the metal core joins the two plastic end boxes. They are prone to fail (don't ask me how I know ). Take the front grille off and take the cowl off which surrounds the cooling fan for a proper inspection. If it is the intercooler which has failed you can find delivery mileage take-offs on fleabay for a lot less than dealer prices. Part number LR017950. Fits pumas and td5's.
Update; see fleabay item 143929219153.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I'll need to remove the AC condenser so I might as well just go ahead with it.

Unless you need to take the condenser out for other reasons, the intercooler can be wriggled out with condenser in place.
