Hi all,

Changing carrier bearings on my propshaft, removed one half of the prop from the VC joint, but the other is proper stuck on... release agent and heat not done the trick yet... Any tips?

Thanks,

Stephen

You need to adjust the VCU to UJ bolt to allow it to contact the chisel, but and this is important, the chisel must contact both sides of the UJ or you can bust the UJ casting. I.e. push it right through.

On my daughters (was mine ,who would of thought in the 6 years of ownership and hardly any maintenance or cleaning would result in the work I had to do from prop shaft bearing lower suspension arms ,sway bar linkages rear break pipe's rear brake cylinders and hose as the rust had corroded the unions and fixing ) it I cut the prop support bearing case to allow me to heat the prop shaft joint and used a wedged shape piece of metal that contacted the universal joint casting ,adjusting the clamp bolt as it progressed outward. be careful to not drop the prop on the concertina as this will rupture the unit expelling its contents
cutting the support bearing to leave the bearing inner race allows you to hit the shaft without fear of damaging it and later was used to tap the new bearings on
