hi anyone no if the prop shaft is balanced only mate took his off and did not mark it before removal he had to change the vcu bearings many thanks

lololol very good told him that but if its balanced do u know how he can get it it put back on right way round as he did not make it be he removed it

there is no way to tell - yu might be able to see any marks on the flanges - but its a long shot.

The props are balanced as a unit, so it may not matter ;).

ok great thanks do u no what sort of problems it would case or show seeing he is not putting back on the way it came off

isn't the prop just balanced as a unit off the car???? as long as the little weight plates are still on the prop i thought it didn't matter,

...Sorry to 'crash' into this thread gentlemen, but I have a related query...

I have recently had my VCU etc. replaced and ever since there is a distinct resonance coming from the centre-rear of the drive train above 55-60mph. This weekend I jacked up the Freelander to see if there where any obvious problems. The universal joint that goes into the front of the VCU seems to have a little latteral play in it (side-to-side) but no play when subjected to twisting forces in either direction.

Would this be enough to manifest itself as a judder?

I know two things about Freelanders:- Nothin n bugger all.

But, There should be no play in universal joints in any direction.

Oh and I lied I know three things, apparently they should all be burnt LOL :D
