I was given a 90 18 months ago with van sides and three seats up front. Spent some cash on it as you do or has you have to. And pretty much it's growing on me, there's certainly something about tratters that I don't think I'd want to get rid of it....
Anyway way up until Friday night it looked like this..
My wife's drive is a Citreon C3 and we've got two teenage lads and the wife's been going on about getting a bigger car so we went to a car supermarket and to cut a long story short they only offered us £1500 for an 07 plate car with FSH and 70k. Tossers....
So I flippantly said we could stick some windows and seats in the tratter and she said OK So I've spent the weekend making a start...
4 6mm camping mats and high temp spray adhesive (smells lovely).
Sliding windows from Masai with a template £215 all in.
No going back...
Got some alpine windows and seals from Island 4x4 for £84 delivered, Craddocks wanted over £100 just for 1 piece of glass. Had to make a template for the alpine windows, really not looked forward to this
Trimmed the camping mat to allow for the rubber seal
Lined it with acoustic cloth of ebay
Cut the window out
Template did its job well
Had the wife try and help me get the alpine windows in but gave up in the end before I lost my rag and started hitting stuff, just could not get the ba5tards in... It was nerve racking trying to hold the windows when they're covered in washing up liquid, I dropped one once and fortunately it fell inside.
Church and food shopping on Sunday so didn't really get owt done but today progress was made. Tweaked the alpine template and remade it and cut the holes a bit bigger and yippee they fit...
Absolutely knackered my thumbs getting the smaller seal in but well chuffed
Need to tidy up the fabric around the alpine windows tomorrow and put a stereo in.
Waiting for my seats to turn up now from Exmoor trim and thinking of hiding a Skytag in there somewhere. I don't want to tart it up to much cos it's still got to earn its keep fetching logs for the wood burner.
That's it for tonight, I can hear some sangria calling me from the fridge:beer2:
