Hi folks, i need some advice. When i fire up the disco, it fires but only just. When running i switch to gas at which point the revs drop to about 500 rpm. if i stop at lights, the disco dies. It is very difficult to start it again even when switched back to petrol. Is this a battery problem, alternator, ht leads, plugs or a combination of all 4 ? the battery looks new but what sort of battery should be in it? any help would be gratefully appreciated.

doesn't sound like yer firing on all cylinders to me, story from a non landrover V8 driver I know was that his V8 was rough to start and "a bit lumpy" when running, after a couple of weeks he ventured under the bonnet and found one of his plug leads dangling, hope your not offended by this advice - the guy who told me the story is a mechanic, and he wasn't ashamed to tell it!
