Problems with my series III gearbox

can anyone help, my series 3 has developed a problem which is obviously pretty serious. basically it jumped out of second gear with a loud 'clunk' and now you can select a gear but when you let the clutch out it jerks forward only slightly and there is a grating and scraping sound - is this the gaerbox, transfer box or something else?

Sounds like a gearbox problem to me!! I'd be checking all of the bearings first as a couse but you may well have further problems now such as teeth missing of gears etc..
First off, drain the gearbox oil and see whats in it. Bearings, teeth or any other nasties and go from there.
