Hi Can anyone please help?

I have a 1995 2.5 p38 that has some strange issues!!

I live in a rural area but when I do occasionally go on the motor way the car doesnt like maintaining a 70mph speed. Dont get me wrong it will do 70, 80 mph+ but its almost as if the car goes into limp mode and wont let the revs go above 2000 or the speed above 50mph. The only way I have found to stop it is to take the car out of gear and coast for a few minutes then it will pick up again for a short while then goes back into limp mode. Its very annoying and does my head in when Im being over taken by massive lorries whilst Im stuck in the slow lane  !! Its like the car just doesnt like high revs, it doesnt just do it on motorways it will also do it if you floor the throttle. A mate has suggested I replace the fuel pump but Im reluctant to start randomly replacing parts untill I have a better idea of what the problem could be. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

The passenger side window also has issues in that when you put the window up from the open position it makes a horrid noise when it gets to the top. Its like the window hasn't realised that the glass is at the top. The onboard display on the dash keeps saying " passenger window not set" everytime i get in or out of the car. Any suggestions?

hi ya as for the speed thing f@%k knows but i had a simalar problem with the window.
when it gets to the top its banging like hell? turned out the teeth on the gear in the regulator had worn out. easy job to replace just drill the rivets out as for the "window not set" message after youve replaced the regulator it needs setting just roll the window all the way down and hold the button on for a second then roll the window up and hold for a second .
jou should get a message saying "window set"
