My clutch is giving me a bit of a prob, it has very little bite in it, and is slowly getting worse, so much so, ive had to take out the floormat so i can engage the gears:eek:

Can you adjust the clutch or will it need replacing? Its a 1991 110 defender td. (75000 km)

Oh, another thing, when i brake, almost only when going slowly, i get an awful judder from the front left wheel?

What should a novice like me look for, ? Except my nearest garage lol.

How much for a clutch replacement?
cheers

It sounds like your clutch is on the way out, could also be the hydraulic system, check the master for fluid, top it up if need be.

To replace the clutch will be about £60, when I was quoted I was £370 with parts, thats in Glasgow, I ended up doing it myself with help from a friend.

Which engine do you have? Sometimes its easier to lift the engine out rather then drop the gearbox, I've done both and would take the engine out any day.

The judder could be that your disc is contaminated with oil from the swivel, get under it and see if the disc is clean and oil/grease free. Are your pads badly worn?

It could well be the clutch master cylinder. Ive just replaced mine. I also had to replace it on a series 2a I had.

hi i would agree with landy pilot my biting point on series 3 went completly so it pulled away in gear with clutch right down, i took off master cylinder and slave cylinder both rubber seals were totally shot so both not holding pressure and not able to disengae clutch makign gears hard to change and sticky. Check the bores for wear and you might get away with new seal kit dead cheap, the piston on the slave was u/s so got new lucas replacement and seal kit for master cylinder cost less than 20 quid

my local garage, where i buydiesel, the young lad was in this morning, so i took my LANDROVER DEFENDER- Sory folks- in, he has hopefully found the prob, a slack bleed nipple, allowing air into the system, he bled it and ya boysir, its going tickety boo.

Just booked it in for 2 new front discs, then some new tyres i shall source.

Is black circle the best for 7.50 r 16s?

thanks for all your offers of help, appreciated.

ITS NORRA FOOKIN JEEP FFS!

Updated - edited, apologies.

Now 7.50 r 16s, best place/prices to buy a set, or something similar that will fit my ...landrover, used for falconry, farm tracks and a day driving during the week on road.

7.50R16s are apparently allmost like rocking horse droppings these days and have been replaced by a metric/EU etc etc equiv - although i did get a brand new one inc hub off craddocks surplus place the other day for £18

Try somewhere selling new second hand 7.50's ie witham-sv they have loads of ex mod wheels and tyres there are other places too.
