Just purchased a Freelander HSE Diesel Auto 05 plate so only just out of warranty. The combined radio/cd/sat nav has gone bananas. It seems that the radio is coming on when away from the car. Have reset using the code in the handbook and thought all was ok. Battery totally flat this morning and had to have a new one installed. After reset the radio would not go off!!!! Now think the radio has been on for ages and drained the battery--- have not used the car for 3 days.
Spoken to the local car radio man who in turn spoke to Landrover. Landrover said it was a "known fault". Then spoke to Landrover Customer Service who told me it is not a know fault and they could not help as purchased 2 weeks after warranty expired.
Have had the radio disconnected meantime.
Has anyone had the same experience and how was it resolved?
Apparently this is a very complex, expensive item so not too happy.
Grateful for any info.

Does the problem occur when you remove the fascia?? Try it overnight and that will be easier than disconnecting the unit.

A cheap alternative would be to pull the radio fuse at night until you can fix / replace.

Regards,

Steve

Thank you. Have booked into LR Dealership for diagnostic tests, so will know if the fault is electrical or the radio system. Regards Christine.
