Hey all,

Okay, so I did plenty of reading online first, and was pretty sure this was going to work, but seem to have hit a slight snag...

I have a 2002 Discovery 2, with manual sunroofs. I stripped it all out to fix the leaks, and lost one of the winders in the process. I was thinking about changing to electric anyway, so no problem, I bought the motor and the ecu, after checking that was all that was required. I go to fit it this weekend, and I don't seem to have the necessary wiring? Am I being really stupid here, or? The wiring loom is supposed to be in all models right? And unless I'm blind, I definitely don't, so where can I purchase it from?

Cheers,
Stephen

That's more complicated than it appears, it's not about only the body harness which goes to the sunroofs, the wiring to the switches are part of other harness(btw you should have bought switches too not just motors and ECU), also if you manage to fit everything the electric sunroof function must be enabled in the BCU with dedicated tester... contact this guy http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Connectors explain him your problem and he might set you up with the wiring

Oh yeah I did buy switches too! Interesting, so how come I don't have the wiring already in place? Was I just misinformed that all models had the harnesses? Ah cheers, I'll give him a shout and fingers crossed can sort me out.

Thanks!

AFAIK yes, they all should have the wiring ... what is what you think it's missing? the wiring at the roof or for the switches?

Hm okay...well I couldn't see any wiring! Nothing for the switches, and nothing for the motors either, like I said unless I'm being completely blind...

Do you have RAVE? if not download disc 1 from here http://www.myrangerover.co.uk/rave-workshop-manual/ then see Eletrical library - Connector views as follows:
C0126 - motor front, C0129 - motor rear, C0363 switch front, C0769 / C0945 switches rear, C0779 - isolation switch, C0784 - sunroof ECU , these views will give you an ideea what to look for

if no joy with RAVE get this https://www.dropbox.com/s/v0zqixf323c0igu/Discovery 2 MY99 to MY03 - Electrical Library (LRL0529ENG 3rd Ed).pdf?dl=0 and use adobe acrobat reader on it

It might be (pure speculation) that only the switch/motor wiring loom isn't there, but the necessary connections to add that add-on loom will be there on the main loom, you probably need to find where the electric sunroof loom connects to the main loom. I had a 3 door Disco 300Tdi, added motors to the headlights and switches for towing levels, electric mirrors, it came with manual winders, but electric were cheaper to fit when one broke .. and all connections were there!!

Okay, sorry for the delayed response, work has been really busy and I'm trying to find a new flat too!

This is a photo of all the connectors I have in the roof - still not sure if I just need something to go from one of these to the motor/switches, or if I'm missing the cables that run from wherever originally up into the roof?

@sierrafery I had a look at the diagram, and it looks like the ECU locates up in the roof with the motor? Nothing I have at the moment fits the connections on the ECU unfortunately.

Thanks both for all the help so far! I'm just getting so confused haha, electrical bits is not my strong point!
