hello, unscrew the bleeder screw on the fuel pump then use the manual lift pump till fuel comes out of the bleed screw. in my j19 i also had to crack each injector in turn till fuel came out but you might not need to do that tho for your j19. hope this helps Seth

You are supposed to bleed the fuel filter first and then the injector pump.

I have found in the past that opening the IP bleed and cranking the engine is often the easiest way. You may need 2 batteries depending on how much of the fuel system you have had apart.

Or remove the glow plugs to de-compress the engine - makes it much easier.

As above, undoo bleed screw ontop of fuel filter, pump fuel lift pump (handel is on the bottom of it if you have an original pump - some replacment ones have it on the side) , then when fuel comes out the top, open the vey small (6 or 8mm as i recall) on top of the injector pump (between the two spindles coming out the top), and pump again until fuel comes out.

The undo the injector pipes from the injectors, remove the four glow plugs, and crank the engine over - don't do this untill the injector pump is full as it will cause wear on the injector pump if you run it empty - when fuel comes out of all four pipes witout any air, close the pipes back up, put the glow plugs back in, put 30 seconds of glow plug heating on, and crank it and hope for the best!

last time i did mine, I bled the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter until pure diesel came out, and then closed that off, and kept on pumping until the pump no longer seemed to be doing anything, which didn't take all that long. the engine then started normally.
