I have 12 months MOT on a discovery that I bought a couple of weeks ago. 1996 Manual....
Just been on the VOSA site to check out previous mot's and obviously it's had some where it has failed.
A week before it passed recently on it's reasons there are 5 lots of "body or chassis damaged, seriously affecting it's strength within 30 cm of the body mountings" ..... these were on n/s o/s rear and front, and centre body.
I know they are limitted in their computer comments but my mate and me looked under and the chassis looks really good, just one bit of welding n/s front.
Could these be bumpers? It's got really good newish ones on.....front and back? HPI is clear but I know things aren't always declared....
I have the number of the garage who mot'd for the seller.

Am I worrying unnecessarily having got 12 months on it?
I just wished the seller would have told me about stuff....He mentioned body mountings repaired and repaired wheel arches/nicely painted, and that was it.

Any ideas?:(

Cheers

If it has passed then it has passed.

If you have any doubts then take it to a reputable garage/ or ask on here for a referral.. so someone can check out whether something was missed on the MOT that would affect safety.

Remember that having an MOT has nothing to do with whether the vehicle is safe to drive. It is simply a tax collecting exercise. Get it checked out properly if you are in any doubt.

Sounds like a fairly normal disco MOT printout!

Look for plating around the 6 body mounts under the cabin (one below a pillar, one at c pillar and one on rear edge below boot door (ns one will be hidden by exhaust))

Also check inner and outer sills, front inner wings/wheelarches, rear wheelarches, inside rear doors if 5 door and the obvious one - the boot floor.

TBH You've got a ticket for a year - that means you've got the summer this year to get under her and give her some loving where required.

He told yu body mounts had been repaired and that's wot it failed on. Unless yu say they haven't been done?
