presure reducing valve upset

I have an ex mod 109, the what i know as "presure reducing valve" has issues, i belive i need to replace the part which is part no 599443 but its 100 quid!!. whats the deal with this part, i remember glancing over an article that surgested removing it??? help please
 
it was intended to reduce pressure to the rear brakes to stop them locking up when only carrying a light load, if i remember correctly.

you should ba able to just bin it as its another grand idea that int worth the bother

Silly-arse dangerous thing. Bin it.

If you find the back end tends to lock up try to find wheel cylinders that fit, but have smaller diameter pistons. That will help a lot. I think you should be able to locate such cylinders quite easily.

Charles that is around the wrong way, larger cylinder bore to slow the piston down, smaller to increase the speed of the piston.

got it back at 4.00 pm monday, fitted it today just got front prop and some wires to connect in the morning then job done. but have now found that me "p" gasket is leaking:mad:
 
i no, even more important (so the sprog keeps telling me) is that i have to move 3 fecking horses over the wkend

Sorry .... absolutely NOT.

Given any pressure in the fluid, the smaller diameter slave cylinders will exert LESS force on the brake shoes.

They will of course take up the slack quicker, but the applied FORCE will be less.
