Hi all,
Thought I'd treat myself to used set of powerfold mirrors as I do fold the mirrors in quite often. I didn't look into it properly before I bought some off of fleabay.. but came to find my Serengeti doesn't have the powerfold loom! There's plenty between Rave and this forum about to help me with building a loom, albeit I don't have the plugs necessary at present. Anyway, the used powerfold set showed up this morning and the glass in 1 of them is wobbly, one of the plastic toothed runners in the adjustment setup is broken. I guess I can use the mirrors I currently have to replace the runner., which'll obviously kill my plan to sell on the old ones.. but obviously I have gone back to the seller to report. I've suggested if he snips off the plugs I need from his donor vehicle I'll call it even. However, I've just noticed that one of the mirrors is folded in and the other isn't, which has me concerned that maybe one of them isn't working! Thing is, I obviously don't want to go through all the trouble of acquiring the bits and building the loom, only to find one of these mirrors doesn't work.
Question is: if I wire the 2 pin plug on the mirror direct to a live and ground, will the motor fold/unfold and then will switching the polarity drive it the opposite way?.. making sure of course to disconnect on completion of the movement, because I assume the its the BCU that cuts the voltage when it senses resistance, remembers whether they're in or out and reverses polarity etc?
Also.. switching out the plastic toothed runner easy enough?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.. Cheers!
