Well I think its Power Steering.
Im hopeless at explaining things so took a couple of vids, hope yous can hear the grinding noise over the engine. Drove it out today to go round the field but got this. It does it when turning Steering,
I have tried all the usual things, Bleeding fluid which flows out good on the bleed screw, tried turning from side to side but just cant get rid of this noise,
I wouldn't say the steering is Very Heavy but it is heavy . Could it be something else that's causing it ??

Did you wind it comletely lock to lock.

Sounds like mine did when it had air in it when I changed the box last week. took it to the lock until the engine pitch changed and held it for a few seconds and then went to other lock.

Cheers

Yes tried that, gets worse on full lock either side. didn't want to do it touch much in case i made it worse.

One thing I didnt mention it seems only does it with wheels on the ground, not when Jacked up off floor.
Also everything was put back on Brand New Track rods steering bars, Damper ect, Probably something Ive done wrong when fitting them. Im sure it was OK before I had belt back off to get at Timing.

im not suggesting you do just getting info
OK Thanks Mate. Been doing a bit of Googling on it, someone suggested it could be not enough air in tyres, I know some of mine are low, so will try blowing them all up to correct pressure, and try that. Knowing my Luck though it cant be that simple. :(

try the wheels by hand with drag link off, does steering wheel feel smooth

Just watched a Vid of fiting
no drag link, so as you can turn the wheels without the pas box connected
Right got it, just watched a Vid on it and Im sure the bloke said tighten the end castle nuts to 14 NM, I have tightened mine a lot more then that, Could it be they are To Tight ?

wouldnt effect the steering just nipped up is all they need as its the taper that holds the joint tight

Wheels move freely smoothly around balls with drag off,. All back together and still the same, noise seems to be coming from pump, but can't be certain.

Cant think of anything else other then try another pump off my spare parts Disco. Unless I'm doing something wrong in trying to bleed.
