Hi , im new here.Just got back in from towing father in law home, he has a 97/98 ish freelander 1.8 5 dr, driving along and all of a sudden the car loses all power and struggles to even move under it own steam...Leave it for a couple of hours and its ok again.First happened couple of weeks ago 120 miles from home, then last week 100 mile from home now 1/2 mile from work tonight...Been to land rover twice now for same problem and they cant find anything wrong with it, any body got any ideas?????? thanks in advance

Hi Richhrv and welcome. . .sounds like a fuel issue fuel filter blocked or pump seems favorites as ya have to wait a time and then it starts again, best oh luck. . .:)

Also forgot to mention when the power loss happens he revved it up an there was nothing in it, it sounded like a manual choke car when the engine is warm and you pull the choke all the way out, almost as if its getting to much fuel or perhaps being starved off air!!!!!!!!!

Different parameter now so its air filter or auto choke problem [this could also include air flow sensor and ambient air sensor] but for most easy for earthlings, fuel filter , air filter, check ing leads for arc down ,best oh luck. . .:)

well a quick update, its been back to land rover and the head gasket is going now, the exhaust is blowing, this after nearly a grand spent last month when the cam belt snapped............. He has now dumped it and bought another car thanks for all the help anyway!
