hi

i own a 1993 defender 2.5tdi 90. i have just installed a new fuel tank(old one was rotten and started leaking). everything seemed to be running fine until i got it onto the road :) it seems to have lost power- when i put my foot down in fifth gear i'm only getting 50mph. the engines revving up but theres just no power coming through.

any ideas? could it be the clutch- maybe just a coincidence that its happened after changing the fuel tank???

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.:)

Maybe the fuel pick up pipe is to long for the new tank and its hitting the bottom restricting the flow, or maybe you have kinked one of the pipes under the seat area.

thanks for replies. during removal the metal return pipe that fits onto the top of the
tank got kinked slightly. maybe that is my problem. i'll try and find one on the internet- hopefully thats all it is. i just spent 450 quid getting her through an mot so dont want any more steep repair bills. :)
