Covers the lanes around Stonehenge, which I love and have fought a little, from far away, to keep open. Any road up, this is a summary of what's happening.
"The Inquiries
1. Two separate Public Inquiries are to be held, opening concurrently (see paragraph 5 below). These concern proposed Orders as follows:
Stopping Up Orders (SUOs) Inquiry
This will address two draft SUOs promoted by English Heritage, each entitled:
The Stopping Up of Highways (Southwest) (No_ ) Order 201_.
These relate respectively to the A344 adjacent to Stonehenge and to a length of the B3086 north of Airmans Corner. Both would be made in order to enable the carrying out of development to be carried out in accordance with a planning permission (see 3 below). The Inspector will report with recommendations to the Secretary of State for Transport, who will make the final decisions on the Orders.
Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) Inquiry
This will relate to a draft TRO, namely:
The County of Wiltshire (Stonehenge World Heritage Site, Parishes of Amesbury, Berwick St James, Durrington, Wilsford cum Lake, Winterbourne Stoke and Woodford) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2010.
This would prohibit the use by motorised vehicles (with certain exceptions) of a further part of the A344 and a number of Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs) within the World Heritage Site. The reason given for this Order is to improve the amenity of the area. The Inspector will report with recommendations"
Have a look on About the Inquiries | Wiltshire Council and do what you can to stop the bastids ... I missed the last meeting as I wasn't told in time (typical councils) and couldn't get there!
They've sent me a list of affected lanes which I'll post when I get time.
