Poorly TD5 - in need of an ECU!

My mechanic has told me my landy needs a new ECU and wiring because some oil has leaked into it. Its the 2003 td5 and I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get a second hand one and how much I should expect to pay?

Has your mechanic tried to clean the oil from the wiring and plugs ?

You should go to the 'Introduce Yourself' section and pop in a brief what I drive and whereabouts in the country you are, local knowledge is great.

Thats unlikely, clean the red plug with some brake cleaner. Then replace the injector harness and clean the plug there too. May well solve your issues. Both very easy to do and cost £30 or so

I would suggest going to introduce yourself before the mob comes!

Thank you so much for your answer, it's been really helpful. I'm going to try this this week and see how it goes.

I'm in the process of trying to find out how to introduce myself! ... Not great with computers haha

We just cleaned my mates td5 injector harness and ecu a can of brake cleaner for the harness and electrical cleaner for the ecu total cost £11:50 job done

Luckily I'm quite good with engines, especially diesels. But it's my first 4x4 and I'm a bit nervous. I'm sure I'll pick it up quickly (especially at this rate!!)

Just be aware that even if cleaning the oil is compulsory it's completely futile without replaceing the injector loom too
