A got a Service Kit for my TD4, all the filters and gubbins for a service, but no clue where the Pollen filter is located, As I have got it I thought I would replace it, but cannot see where its fitted!!!

Any one know!!

Its in the passenger footwell - the black plastic heater box under the dash, just unscrew the end plate and the filter slides out.

4 screws to remove. Have a feel inside for leaves too. I found some in mine.

As the four bolts that hold the cover on are recessed, I found that I had to grind a socket down as the socket walls were too thick to fit in the recess.

I'm surprised you never noticed it before, it's hard not to! Many of my passengers have wondered why there's a big black box down there. (What a stupid place to put it!)

Ok- Thanks Job done, nice short cross head Driver needed to remove screws. Not a lot of space to get filter in and out!! but managed, given state of filter, not been changed often!!! Worse than my Hoover!! Sweet fresh air now

Can anyone say what size the bolt heads are on the pollen filter?

I have bolts on mine, not screws.

Very trying! :)

Just found on another board that the bolts should be 6mm.

I can recall when I first got the car, that I grinded down a socket to fit in the plastic housing but can't for the life of me find it.

one's on mine are 6mm

if y'don't find the ground-down socket
a small rubber grommet under each one works fine
leaves the screw/bolt head slightly proud .. easy to get a socket/spanner on ..

~~~~~~~~~~
btw: this place does an alternative pollen filter
I managed to find it once I knew the socket size, but that's a good idea.
Now I just have to work out which way round the filter goes as I removed mine about 2 years ago and cut of the cover and just replaced that.
i just remember it as the plastic-frame bit on the filter .. faces to the outside of the vehicle .. i.e. to the left
( just replaced mine a few days ago )
I came to the conclusion my model didnt have a pollen filter after searching high and low. I will have another look now!
I remember an old thread saying some did not have them , also sometimes it is good to own a quarter inch drive set it saves grinding down sockets
