if it's not wet in wading hole it will be sump. also do not kill new gasket-do it up evenly

many thanks for your input, some say lay on your bead if sealant, leave 30mins before mating up, torque up 75% the a final torque after an hour-fill with oil after 24hours.
That sound ok?
Thanks again-I'm learning quickly :0)

when I worked in the garage and on my own, clean faces with spray brake cleaner (immaculate) smear instant gasket on the cork seal both sides
(cover cork but not **** loads) and refit.

Put all bolts in evenly and watch for splaying out-if you don't it will splay out.
You will know when it is tight evenly, the excess cork will tip very slightly.
If you wish to leave it to set-so be it or just refill with oil

Welcome to my world but mine is 10x worse than that --- park up after a half hour trip and Ive got a 3-4cm oil patch on the floor ( you should see my drive !!!!!!! ) .

I thought the same as you , ah sump gasket - so did that and the leak was still there .

Turns out its the flywheel gasket to block thats leaking ( engine out job / or gearbox ) either way Ive left it as Ill be doing a engine change very soon and i couldnt be arsed taking the motor out and doing the job just to take it out again later .

Forgive my ignorance but I can't find anyone to sell me a sump gasket for a 300Tdi! So either i make my own or just stick with the RTV?

Sorry to hear your misfortune bud, so was yours leaking from wading hole then or somewhere between bell housing and engine?

mines still leaking from the joint at the back of the engine to the flywheel housing ( the corner joint behind the sump .

your thoughts and dianosis would be very much appreciated..

Christ!! thats how they left the factory. lets you know it has oil in it. when it doesn't leave drips on the drive, it needs topping up.

mine is so so so so so much worse!

it aint leaking enough- look how rusty yer sump pan is.
bit of brute force with a blunt screwdriver shud have it leaking properly in no time:D

drive through lots of wet mud and clay, nobody will care about oil on the drive/road/street ever again
