you have done us proud again. heading further afield I see? so did you drive to Congo then ship back? the dates suggest this.

how did you find Mali? and did you travel to Burkina Faso?

The countries i crossed afer Mali were, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroun, Gabon and Congo Brazzaville.

The route in Mali was: Nioro, Diema, Bamako, Bougouni, Sikasso; Burkina: Koloko, bobo-Dioulasso, Ouagadougou, Koupela and Cinkassé.

Mali, a country with friendly people that are interested in talking and learning with foreigners. Barbecues along the roads serve good meat.

The Defender was shipped back in a container at Pointe-Noire. I requested the services of TMC (Transit Maritime Congolais). After that I took the plane: Pointe-Noire-Brazzaville-Casablanca. The flight was almost at 2300 meters hight, letting appreciate the landscape and taking photos and movies.

hi sorry to hijack this post but have just looked at griffdowg pics of the alps trip in 2009 i am planning a trip their in aug this year it looks fantastic have you any info of the rought you took

If you read the trip report (long I know) it gives plenty of locations where you will be able to pick up pistes using IGN maps. Its reasonably straight forward.
