Parts Recall for Rear Propeller Shaft Flexible Coupling Part Number TVF100010

SAFETY RELATED RECALL
Subject
Rear Propeller Shaft Flexible Coupling Part Number TVF 100010 After Market Parts Safety Issue

Land Rover is undertaking a no-charge Recall (Programme Number P024) that affects a small number of third party-manufactured rear propeller shaft flexible couplings sold between April 2011 and February 2012. The rear propeller shaft flexible couplings involved in this Recall could have been installed on Discovery 1, Discovery 2, Range Rover and Range Rover Classic Models for Model Years 1995-2004. If you have had one of these third party parts fitted to one of your vehicles, you may be affected.

Reason for this programme
A concern has been identified with a number of rear propeller shaft flexible couplings sold between April 2011 and February 2012. The affected parts may not have been manufactured to the required Land Rover specification.

Should a defective part be installed, increased levels of drive line vibration will be experienced, if this warning sign is ignored, the coupling will likely fail leading to loss of drive and, for automatic transmission vehicles, loss of the transmission effectiveness. Furthermore, should the coupling separate, the rear propeller shaft can detach from the vehicle. These conditions increase the risk or accident or injury.

What Land Rover and your dealer will do
Land Rover is carrying out a voluntary recall of the parts mentioned above. The Land Rover Approved Service Centre will inspect affected vehicles or if the part has not yet been fitted to the vehicle they will inspect the part and replace as necessary.

How long will it take?
The work will be carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to minimize inconvenience to customers and is expected to take approximately 1 hour, although the service centre may need vehicles for a longer time due to service scheduling requirements.

What we are asking owners to do
Contact a Land Rover Approved Service Centre without delay. Provide the service centre with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and vehicle registration number. Ask for a service date for Recall Programme P024. Owners can visit Land Rover | 4x4 | Land Rover UK for Land Rover Approved Service Centre addresses, maps and driving instructions.

Owners should bring a printout of this notification to the service centre. If someone is unable to bring a printout, the service centre will still do the work, free of charge.

Additional information regarding concerns
Customers experiencing any problems getting a vehicle repaired promptly and without charge should contact a Land Rover Approved Service Centre Service
Manager for assistance.

Owners who have queries or concerns that their local Land Rover Approved Service Centre cannot address, should contact Land Rover Customer Relationship Centre 0870 850 8447 for immediate assistance from one of our representatives.

This recall action is being undertaken in accordance with the legislative or industry requirements concerning vehicle defects. The authorities will closely monitor the response rate of this Recall Action.

This matter should be treated with the urgency it requires. Land Rover regrets any inconvenience this recall may cause and thanks their loyal customers for their cooperation.

I can think of a certain aftermarket company where the above sentence applies to everything they produce with a certain BRand name on IT...

ive got to rip my engine apart for the 4th time this month to replace the certain cowboys branded valve stem oil seals as they lasted a grand total of 1 hour running time :mad::mad:

So third party? Are we talking ANY manufactures flex joint then? Or only by certain makers?

Indeed. I've just fitted a new one and got a bad vibration around 2thousand rpm. I thought it was something else giving up on the rear. Trouble is when buying you don't know how long its been on the shelf. Im thinking I've got a dodgy one now.doubt I'll bother chasing them. Land rover probly wouldn't give my disco back without spend hugh amounts of money. Time for the 200 retro fit me thinks.
