part numbers

hi,looks like the starter is going on my freelander,plenty of clicking,aparently they do 3 dif types for the 99(T) d i,so i am led to beleive,can anyone tell me of any web sites i could trace the part number as i have seen some bargains on ebay,cheers,Mark

you want to get yer starting circuit checked out first as there are a number of things that could cause clicking.not just the expensive bit. well atleast on other cars its sometimes cheaper bits, not sure about the gaylander though.

The clicking is normally a give away to a faulty starter solenoid or a poor earth from engine to chassis, on your model the solenoid is fitted on the starter motor, as the slob says worth checking these things first. . . Ming

how to fix a starter motor get big hammer and beat it as hard as you can if it dont work after that its f**ked and time to get a new one

I thought the starter had packed up on my Hippo. Turned out to be a faulty solenoid as Ming suggested.

slob,good idea,will check this first thing in the morning,suppose it could be something as simple as a relay,cheers
