Parking your TD5 in a high risk area

Hi guys just a heads up

Heard of a few stolen TD5s recently

Some you you will no this and some will not, but if you have a Defender td5 and park it where it's likely to get robbed simply pop the bonnet and unplug the injector harness which just clips in at the front of the engine...

Not clipped in = No starting

Takes 2 seconds and could leave it in the housing just not connected...

Unless it's loaded onto a lorry or trailer with a winch or something

Anyway just an idea guys!

Good idea , and like you say it's simple , I live in the sticks, and there has been a lot of defenders taken from driveways round here, I think a good old steering lock and your wheels turned into the kerb is a decent deterrent , but if they want it , all the security in the world won't stop thieving scum , Well maybe a shotgun lol

With the addition of locking bonnet catches + anri theft hinges pretty solid

Its a long time since I played with the Injector harness.

But is there not a risk of pushing the injector harness ( that is inside the cover ) back into the rocker cover and thus not get a good connection?

I always thought that myself, but never had the issue. I think its prettt well secured in there, not asthough it takes much force to connect it.

No there's not as the cam cover stops this happening... Also you wouldn't need a locking bonnet just leave it in the housing and it will look un detectable... As thick as a thief in the night as they say

Oh, hold on..........

This is for one of those fancy TD5 Defenders aint it......No worries then , after all no one is going to steal a Disco Td5............

If parking a Defender in a high risk area you could maybe buy a bus pass so you can get home.
Probably worth nipping back to where you left it though, just on the off chance that it is still there.
It did happen once. Guy parked a 90 in a high risk area and when he returned it was still there!
He did get wet driving home with no doors on it, but at least he got home.
