Have seen some folks on here having problems with there drum type parking brakes in the past, haven't heard much of late.

So all the green laneing and pay and play do you have problems with the mud packing them up?

And second have many of you done a disc brake conversion on them? And if you have how do you like it?

Hi FT

Yep - mud can cause the drum parking brake to seize or stop working - know of many guys that dismantle and clean regularly, but think you know that already:D

Seen some good write ups on here on the Disc repalcement (you're too old in the tooth to be told FFS SEARCH:rolleyes:)

Believe consensus was the kits are good, work well, are more tolerant of mud and crap but are damn expensive:scratching_chin:

What! A genuine Land Rover fred posted by FT:eek::jaw:. Please do it more often FT. In answer to your question, I have a drum parking/hand break fitted and I have had no issues with it yet. However as I am saving to replace my engine and trany system I have not been putting my car under to much strain:D

Can't say I've ever had any seizing problems.....usually the opposite but not really a huge issue.

A disc conversion would be nice but considering the price it's unlikely to ever make the top of the list

My TD5 Discovery hand brake stops working about a month after its MOT every year ,,I take it in new oil seal new flange and shoes burnt clean works great.Pass MOT then a few weeks later it will not hold my Discovery2.Been like that for many years now !!........But i am going to buy one of those disc hand brake set ups in a couple of weeks time and fit that on,
