Ok guys. So I’m in the middle of restoring my Series 3 and I’m wondering do you guys recommend painting the interior of the panels? I’ve noticed that the inside of all the panels aren’t painted originally but I’m thinking they will be better protected against corrosion if there painted. Either that or I could just underseal them or Waxoyl.

Norrie.

I did not paint the inside of mine, but mine was a rolling restoration and I was doing one panel at a time and did not want it in peices on the driveway and undrivable for any length of time. It was my intention to then underseal them but I have yet to get around to that.

When I do repairs I use a primer for aluminium then either underseal or shutz. Hammerite do a special metals primer that seems to stick well. I don't like underseal straight on ali as it can get loose and hold water against the metal.

Yeah. Not sure what to do. I've ordered loads of paint so have enough to paint the inside if I want. I might paint and then underseal/shutz for added protection.
