hello,
yesterday i woke up at 9am and already had a plan set out. it was a nice enough day so i started dismantling the 110.
spare wheel and all chequerplate and grill came off.
all the bubbling got rubbed down/scratched off with 40 grit
then everything got a good going over with 400 grit and a scotchbrite pad in the tight places.
i then masked off some of the important bits and removed anything else i could.
panel wipe all over the thing. then nipped out to the paint shop.
bought myself 2 litres of synthetic satin in RAL 8019 grey brown
1 litre of chassis black, 2 spray cans of etch primer, and 2 mini gloss rollers and a roller tray
i etch primed all the bare metal, let it dry, then got to painting on the brown.
the synthetic was a lot thicker than ive previously used and went on very very thick. i definitely should have bought some thinners and thinned it at least 5:1 but nevermind its done now.
its covered well all in one coat and i used about 1.7 litres for what you can see.
i brushed inthe tight spots then rollered the rest and tryed to get an even look but the the rollers disintegrated as the paint started to dry up so it was tough to get a good flow.
anyway this is where im upto . next to do today is paint chequerplate black, clean grill up and paint black, paint roof gloss black, paint side rails and sills and all hinges and windscreen black. reassemble.
then the final step will be adding extended arches and some huge wheels.
oh and i gota paint the bumper too.
enjoy
