Hi my stereo has locked me out and just displays 4222 which is the last code I tried! have left it a few days but when i hold band it still don't let me try another code, I don't have the code for it but I'm hoping that it may have been written on the stereo, if not I'll just put another in unless anybody knows and easy way to unlock the radio???

But, I removed the plastic face on the stereo and can't see anywhere to put any keys, some people say they use hacksaw blades but there don't seem to be any slots, there are just 2 small round holes at the top of it on each end but normally stereo keys go in the side of a stereo but nothing on this at all,
can anyone show me a picture and give me a tip on how to remove this stereo, my car is a 1997 r reg

I don't have a stereo tool but surely there must be a way without buying tools??
please help I hate not having a radio, even though I like the v8 sound I like the radio when i'm waiting for the mrs while she's shopping!¬!!:);)

Two things here

1. Is the stereo code you have the right one for the unit - has the stereo come from a previous car. If so you will probably have to get teh unit de-coded by an auto electrician.

2. To get it out will depend on which sound system you have fitted (Clarion or Alpine). Mine has the Alpine system and to get the stereo out you slide 2 thin slivers of metal (like small hacksaw blades) into 2 slots on the upper edge of the stereo, it then just slides out. It really is that easy.
I don't know what removal tools are required for the Clarion one

Done it, so easy, mine is clairon i don't know why they bother with security keys it can be removed with anything thin, mind you it's not worth pinching anyway!!!

I don't have the code and it's not written on stereo so it must be original,

does anyone know if the alpine one would fit? and would the alpine changer fit in the boot or is the plug different to clairon? as i can find the alpine ones on ebay but not clairon so as i don't know my code i might as well get another radio but i want one that will fit the connections I have!!!

otherwise it's an aftermarket job!

Sorry I don,t have the changer. I just unplugged it and fitted a CD player straight no issues but Not sure about your connections but May well be the same ISO. What do you want to pay?

not much to be honest! I don't even want to pay to get the code for mine!! only reason I would like a rr one is so i can still use the steering wheel for volume but i'm not sure it'll work if i go from clairon to alpine, are you ever passing through chichester area??
I notice you have lpg, what system are you running and do you know anyone who knows how to get mine to work? or was yours on when you got it?

A trip to the main stealer with the registration document (V5) will get you the radio code (Providing it hasn't been changed from new). It will be on the database with all the other security information and they can get it in seconds.

the last owners son found the code, i left the stereo on for an hour so the ---- went back to code in, then put the code in and it worked, shame it's only cassette i thought they had cd in 1997!!!

Mine is a Clarion original unit with the 6 CD changer in the boot, on some the changer is under the passenger seat, I thought they all had them because even my 96 basic DT has the changer under the seat.

I bought an aftermarket cd and tuner with mp3 compatible and the cd changer sits in the passenger seat

I've got one if you are interested. Is the cabling in place for the changer:)
there are wires in the boot and a plug so hopefully it's all there,
I bought one on fleabay yesterday not cheap though as i didn't see that you had replied, how much do you want for yours mate??

Hiya, how much do you want? I got tucked up on ebay one, cost me over 40 and it had been beaten to death, bloke really abusive and it's gonna cost too much to return it, so if yours is cheap i might have it!
also can you tell me what the big box is above the cd changer???!!
just out of interest!
cheers mate
