I am based in SA Durban and had a few p38 s but I want to build one to keep for a very long time. As petrol will keeps getting more pricey I was wondering if anybodty has fitted a turbo diesel. apart for the 2.5 bmw engine.any comments tx Derek

There is a company here in the UK that fits (badly) mitsuwashy 2.8 Pajero td motors - but they are not smooth enough for a RR and dont fit very well.
Only other conversion to diesel I have seen is a Mazda sl35t - again only 4 cyls, but much better than the bits - are -missing motor. The thing to remember is that whatever you intend to fit you need to keep certain sensors active,(crank position sensor etc)and retain the original engine Ecu so it can communicate properly with other Ecu's around the car.It is not a simple job - hardly worth it for a one off.

I've heard of a 4.2l Toyota Diesel conversion that is very good, it might involve using the gearbox as well, but I can't find the details, also i'm pretty sure that someone has put a large american diesel in a P38. As eightavee said tho, its not worth it.
