Hello there,
Just a lovely holiday up in Avimore ( scotland).
On our last day my sisters dog jumped in a local river ( fechie bridge) and it could not get out.
I lent at the side and tried to drag it out buy the back of its neck. At this point i fell in too.
My spaniel then thought she would join us and we had a great time in the ice cold 12 foot deep water.
After 5 mins i managed to find a point where i could shove the dogs out and climb out myself.
I then realised that my mobile and range rover key were in my pocket.
The upshot to this all is that the keys are knackered and wont blip the car open or closed so i cant start the car.
The AA man tried using the factory by pass 4 digit code but this did not work either.
is there a way of disconnecting the alarm system so that i can start the car with the damaged key?????
please help

The EKA proceedure should reset the system so that your key fob works however if it does not then you will need access to land rover test book or similar system, to be able to read and reset faults or set for new key fobs.

The P38 has a notable problem for locking its owners out and refusing to start usually down to BECM ecu.

How sure are you that the AA man followed the code procedure absolutely accurately? Not saying that he is stupid, but you do need to do it exactly right for it to work. Something like 4 unlocks to start with and then the code in the combination of locks & unlocks. Also, are you 100% sure that it was the correct code? That should work without the need for the transponder or anything else electronic to do with the key.

I'm assuming that you only have the one key?

If all else fails, like the previous poster said, you will have to have it checked out on Testbook/similar. You'll no doubt be needing a new set of keys anyway, so will have to get it into a garage anyway - most likely on the back of a truck I'm afraid

Matt
