P38 Jumps out of first gear, somtimes.

My 2.5 Deisel, Manual P38 has been jumping out of first gear periodicaly.


If you push it into gear very hard, it is OK but I can imagine this only getting worse.

Has the gearbox gone or could it be some sort of linkage that is worn? Its fine with all the other gearsm just 1st.

if it does not crunch gears unlikely to be syncro worn more likely detent springs worn.
either way sounds like a box rebuild to me.
as i understand it first gear takes quite a hammering on the p38 as it is quite high geared and requires revs and a bit of clutch slipping to get them moving

Worn or even loose selector fork not giving full engagement. The more it does it the worse it will get as dogs wear and get tapered.
